Persons who sell at various toll booths in Ghana are pleading with the government to convert the toll booths to police checkpoint to keep them in business.

Their plea comes after Minister of Roads and Highways, Mr. Amoako Atta called for the immediate halt in the collection of road tolls.

His directive follows after Finance Minister announced before Parliament that the government had abolished roads.

This affected workers and hawkers at the toll booths as they have been relieved of their duties.

But some hawkers who are against the decision have asked the government to find a way to keep them in business because that’s the only place they hawk to feed their families due to unemployment and hardship in the country.

They are pleading with the government to convert the toll booths to police or any security checkpoints just to keep the place busy so that they can do their businesses.
