Church collapse death toll now hits 8 in the Eastern Region.
It is believed that over 40 worshipers including children are still trapped under the four-story uncompleted Church building whose construction started a decade ago as a branch of the Church of Prosperity founded by Akoa Isaac.
The building suddenly collapsed Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at about 2:40 pm.
Reports have it that the congregants of the Church of Prosperity converged on the church premises on Tuesday, October 20, 2020 to pray their leader, Prophet Akoa Isaac who had been taken ill.
More than 30 of the congregants have been rescued from the rubble but some 20 others are feared trapped.
As of the time of writing, the death toll in the Church building collapse at Akyem Batabi in the Asene Manso Akroso District of the Eastern Region has increased to eight.
It’s obvious that the pillars of the building which was uncompleted were weak and had been abandoned for years, making it weak, hence the reason for the collapse.
However, as rescue missions by National Disaster management are trying their best to pull everyone out. We would update you once we are able to get more details.
