Bold Prison officer, two others who attacked a mining site with toy guns arrested by the police.

Connect FM’s morning show host Omanbapa Nhyiraba Paa Kwesi Simpson on Tuesday, January 18, confirmed the incident while speaking to the Head of the Mpohor District Security Council Ignatius Asaah Mensah.

The unlawful raid is claimed to have been led by the Prison Officer when his laptop and other personal belongings were taken after he had engaged the service of a commercial sex worker at the illegal mining site.

Later, he went back to bring his two accomplices and a gun which was realized to be fake to raid the mining site with hopes of finding his missing items.

The miners who worked at the illegal mining site got suspicious and pursued the trio, eventually overpowering them and handing them over to the cops.

It was narrated by the DCE, Asaah Mensah that;

“After he had finished enjoying himself with the lady,he realized that his laptop and some personal effects have been stolen.”

“After a frantic search, the items could still not be found. Incensed by the theft, he came back to Sekondi to organize two extra men to raid the mining camp ostensibly in search of his stolen items.

“He led the raid with a gun which later turned out to be a fake one.”

“Upon interrogation, it was later discovered that the lead suspect is a Prison Officer at the Sekondi Prisons. We later had the information that the said officer has a record of terrorizing illegal miners from his previous post station.”

Meanwhile, Ghana Police speaks over Nima Shootings and how they kept it under control.

According to reports, the altercation between some of the gang members was over shisha.
Videos from the scene show groups of men fighting with cutlasses, with gunshots heard in the background.

It was also added that the guys from opposing groups shot firearms at each other, killing three persons and injuring a number of others, although it has not been confirmed yet.

The Ghana Police Service via their social media handles said it immediately dispatched officers to the location to handle the situation before it escalated.

“Meanwhile, the suspected criminals are being pursued to face justice. Full details will be provided at an opportune time,” the police added.
