President Akufo-Addo makes COVID-19 walk-in request testing free for Ghanaians.
The statement signed by its Chief Director and dated Wednesday, January 27, 2021, the Ghana Health Service has mandated that only travelers are to pay for COVID-19 testing at Public health laboratories.
The Ministry of Health announced that Public health laboratories conducting COVID-19 testing are to conduct walk-in requests such as ill-health, contact tracing, and exposure for free.
This comes at a time when there is a surge in the number of daily confirmed cases.
The statement confirmed the cost would be solely catered by the government.
The ministry believes this would have an improved impact on the spread and control of the virus.
Ghana recorded about 600 cases between 26th-27th January and 5 more deaths which brought the total number of deaths to 377.

Meanwhile,His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has said that the University for Development Studies(UDS) should be renamed after the 1st President under the 4th Republic of Ghana, Late former President Jerry John Rawlings despite declining the honor.
The President reading his tribute during the State Burial Service of the late Jerry John Rawlings said the University for Studies(UDS) should be renamed Jerry John Rawlings University of Development Studies despite admitting the former President’s rejection of the idea of naming national edifices after him, he strongly believes he deserves the honor.
“He respectfully declined the honor and offer because of his principle not to have national monuments and facilities named after him.”
“Notwithstanding these sentiments and with all due respect to him, it is my strong belief that such an honour should be accorded him,” he said.
