Akim Oda MP gives villagers interest-free loans from his salary to constituents.
Alexander Akwasi Acquah, the member of parliament for the Akim Oda constituency in Ghana’s 8th parliament under the fourth republic has done something that barely happens.
This is in fulfillment of a campaign promise in 2020 that he will devote half of his salary every month to be disbursed as interest-free loans to the traders if voted as MP.
Alexander Akwasi Acquah has granted about Ghc140,000 in soft loans to over 200 traders in the area, but he has urged the recipients to adhere to the loan’s payback requirements so that many more people can benefit.
According to reports, the MP used his salary ever since becoming an MP to facilitate that.

Speaking during a government townhall meeting on E-levy held at Sekondi Youth Center in the Western region, he debunked claims that Ghanaians will swim in hardship when e-levy is passed.
According to him, no poor person in Ghana will pay the electronic levy government has intended to introduce.
