5 policemen arrested after putting wee in civilian’s car and extorting money from him at Sukruntu which is close to Asamankese.

According to a confirmed report seen by our outfit, some 5 policemen have been interdicted for extortion.

It was reported that On January 2, 2022, Tamimu was driving a DV plated Toyota Corolla saloon car belonging to his friend one Nketiah Frank from Anum Apapam to Asamankese to buy a tyre for his private vehicle, but he was stopped by a team of five National Highway Patrol officers on board a white pick up No.GP 2517 near Asamankese.

Tamimu stated he was searched, and one of them informed him that they had discovered a wrap of suspected Indian Hemp in the back seat and that he had been arrested and attacked as a result.

It took the help of a friend named Abu, who pleaded on his behalf and paid a sum of GHC500, before his friend was released.

Surprisingly, when the policemen involved were questioned by a team from the Asamankese Divisional Command led by the Commander, Chief Superintendent Felix Apedo, and his Divisional Crime Officer, ASP C.T. Apronti, they denied putting the suspected Indian hemp on the complaint but they admitted to taking GHC450 from him through his friend Abu before releasing Tamimu.

Chief Inspector William Tawiah, Sergeant Ibrahim Iddi, Sergeant Richard Otoo, Sergeant Samuel Kumah, and Corporal Richard Kpeanaah were all arrested right away by the police administration.
