Operatives of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) in the Wenchi Municipality of the Bono Region have apprehended 26 Nigerians for entering the country illegally.

The arrested individuals which includes 24 males, 2 females aged between 23 and 58 years and a two-year-old boy were apprehended today.

Assistant Superintendent of Immigration of the Wenchi Municipal Command, Emmanuel Addai in an interview disclosed that, the arrested immigrants were traders travelling from Cote d’ Ivoire to Techiman in the Bono East Regional Capital and were on board a 207 bus with registration number GR 8278 – Z.

The Superintendent noted that, the immigrants are currently detained in Sampa to be screened for covid-19 and to assist the GIS investigate the illegal route they used to enter the country after which they will be repatriated.

He seized the opportunity to advise the public especially drivers, not to aim some of these undocumented foreigners but to urge them to use the proper legal process.
